It was mere moments after Ember was stolen from Kymil.
The room was heavy with silence as the roses lay scattered on the floor. Next to them, the handfasting cord. A symbol of the binding of two souls, abandoned.
An unfinished vow.

Re: 2b. Ashes of the Alter
Kymil's gaze burned at the door. The silence was deafening. Thoughts of Ember still ran through his mind.
He shifted back into his human form in mere moments and dressed himself. His thoughts turned to the man, the thief.
Lucian. Evernight. The name was like a stain. Kymil knew him as a disgraced noble and a Reality Weaver. A creature who could bend the world around himself. Worse yet, he was fully vampire.
Unlike himself, Lucian didn't carry vampirism as a curse.
He wore it as his nature.
Solan brushed against Kymil's leg, snapping his thoughts back to the present. Kymil looked down at him.
"Thanks. I needed that." Kymil gave him a gentle head scratch. A soft purr-like affectionate growl came from the Lynx as he leaned into Kymil's hand.
Kymil took a deep breath and let it out.
He needed to find a trail.
A trail to his Flame within the Mindscape.

Re: 2b. Ashes of the Alter
Kymil didn't notice it yet, but there was a translucent iridescent seam where Lucian had torn open this realm's reality to get to Ember.
Re: 2b. Ashes of the Alter
Solan was facing away from Kymil when he suddenly stiffened and his ears went back. He was staring at something. He slowly walked toward it and sniffed the ground near this weird light thing he saw. He looked back at Kymil and let out a small roar to get his attention.
Kymil looked at his lynx. "What is it? Do you see something?" He walked over to Solan and crouched down next to him. Then he saw it. The tear in this reality.
"Yeah, this is the clue we needed. Good boy, Solan." He pet the lynx' soft fur. Kymil went over and picked up the handfasting cord. He put it in his pocket to keep it close. It reminded him of her, and he was going to get her back. It wasn't a "might get her back", he WOULD get her back. That was a promise!
